Estimating Farm Machinery Hauling
Partial Truck Load on a 48′ flatbed or step deck
- If approximate dimensions are 12′ long or less (deck space needed), $1.00 per mile is a good estimate but many times we can get it hauled for a bit less with our network carriers.
- If more deck space is needed, up to 1/2 of truckload or 24′ or deck then you can estimate it at $1.50 per mile.
- If your machinery will require all 48′ fo deck: $2.50 – $2.75 per mile
- If your machinery will be over 8.6′ but less than 12′ wide, it must ship as a full truckload at $2.50 – $2.75 per mile, and please add $65.00 per state for over-width permits.
Note 1: It sometimes saves you money when wide to remove the tongue or take apart the machinery to reduce the width. Over-height can also make a difference on price if over than 10’6 high, as an RGN trailer is required east of the Mississippi river.
Note 2: It is a game of inches regarding dimensions, so having accurate measurements is very important. If you are the buyer/receiver, ask the shipper/dealer to measure the machine. Online specs and brochures can be incorrect.
